Titians, Rembrandt’s, Velazquez’s, Ingres’s and Courbet’s art has been the inspiration behind
many of my own paintings. I have meditated profoundly about their great works, through constantly
viewing it and avid research. Their art has filtered through and formed part of my own artist vision.
I have not tried to make literal copies of their designs, but have attempted to use their paintings as
a starting point for me to make a completely unique work of art in its own right. The history of art is
like a scrapbook that I take from whenever I need to. As Picasso has stated ”the best artists don’t borrow they steal.”
