1893 painting, The Scream, juxtaposed with a female victim of the
Oslo bombings of 2011 which took place only a few minutes walk
from where Munch set the scene of his picture. The woman’s
bloodstained face stares out, her eyes and open mouth like a wound;
this is ‘The Scream’ updated for our turbulent post 9 11 worlds?
Munch describes his painting, ‘As the giant infinite scream of nature.’
